Police ban opposition gatherings ahead of Zimbabwe elections

Zimbabwe is heading for its general elections later this year. However, the playing fields are not level for all the parties.

The main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change says rallies and meetings are being banned without reason.

The police say they are simply following the letter of the law.

However, the CCC says the police’s partisanship is clearly showing.

It says all rallies of the governing Zanu-PF are allowed to go ahead without problems.

Police are even on hand to provide protection to members and attendees.

Things are reportedly not looking good for Durban-based Gqom artist Thobeka “Tipcee” Ndaba, after reportedly leaving DJ Tira’s record label Afrotinment.
