Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell announced that Good Burger 2 is coming to Paramount+ in 2023. The two actors announced the news last night during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with Mitchell using his famous Ed voice to say, “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Good Burger home of the Good Burger… PART TWO!!!”
This announcement scored major cheers from the audience, which is no surprise given the 1997 movie’s large fan base. The movie was based on a recurring sketch from the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, in which Thompson and Mitchell both got their start. Good Burger received mixed reviews, but it garnered huge revenue at the box office and has since become a cult classic among millennials who loved the original All That. Thompson said in the interview that they’ve been wanting to do a Good Burger sequel since the first movie, and this year it will finally happen when Good Burger 2 comes to Paramount+
Good Burger was born on All That, which Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell starred in from 1994 and stayed until 1999. From 1996 to 2000, they were the leads in the Nickelodeon comedy series Kenan & Kel. Between both shows as well as the original Good Burger film, Thompson and Mitchell essentially grew up in the industry together and displayed a chemistry that held everyone’s attention.
While they’ve both gone their separate ways professionally, Thompson being Saturday Night Live’s longest-running cast member and Mitchell doing various supporting roles and working as a youth pastor, the pair have been known to reunite, much to fans’ delight. Years ago, they performed a Good Burger sketch along with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. In December 2022, the two revisited their roles from Kenan & Kel in a hilarious SNL sketch with episode host Keke Palmer. Now we will see them revisit Dexter and Ed in Good Burger 2 on Paramount+.
Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, who wrote the original movie, will return to write Good Burger 2, and Phil Traill is set to direct. Production will begin in May, with a premiere set for later this year.
