Liverpool aiming to sign Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister

Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram has dropped a potential hint over his future after responding to reports of Alexis Mac Allister’s imminent move to Liverpool.

Mac Allister, 24, looks set to join Liverpool from Brighton in the coming days after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the Merseyside club.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims the Argentina international has agreed to join the Reds, who are set to trigger a release clause in his contract at the Amex Stadium.

“Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool, here we go! Full agreement completed on the contract – understand it will be valid until June 2028. Five year deal. #LFC,” tweeted Romano on Monday.

“Liverpool will pay the buy out clause in the next days, way less than reported £60m fee. Medical tests in 24/48h. Done.”

Mac Allister now looks set to become Liverpool’s first signing of the upcoming transfer window, which officially opens for English clubs on June 14.

And he could be swiftly followed by more new arrivals, with Jurgen Klopp’s side expected to sign several midfielders this summer after a frustrating season.

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone and Nice star Khephren Thuram, the son of legendary France international Lilian Thuram, have both been linked with a move to Anfield.

Khephren, 22, has attracted attention from the Merseyside club after making 48 appearances in all competitions for Nice this season, scoring twice.

Thuram ‘likes’ Mac Allister transfer picture
The midfielder has fuelled speculation he could be on his way to Liverpool this summer after ‘liking’ a post on Instagram about Mac Allister’s deal to join the Reds.

The post, published by 4-3-3, showed a picture of Mac Allister celebrating in a Liverpool shirt.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are preparing an offer for Thuram, with Nice willing to let him go if their asking price of €40m (£34.5m) is met.

Thuram, however, has publicly played down a move away from the French club this summer.

Speaking at the UNFP Trophies ceremony (via Liverpool Echo), Thuram said: “I want to progress, go on the field, have fun. For now, I’m in Nice. It’s going very well. I really like the club, so I still see myself in Nice. I am very well in Nice.

“There are noises, I hear, but I’m happy in Nice. I hope to grow with this club. I would like [caretaker manager Didier] Digard to stay because he brought a lot to this group when it was in a difficult period.

“I don’t know if I tell him enough but he’s someone I can never thank enough. He helped me a lot in difficult times in my young career.

“We worked a lot together. I wish him only happiness, in Nice, or elsewhere.”
