Somizi brushes off ‘illuminati comments’ after extraordinary Durban July outfits

One celeb who went all out of the way when it came to the issue of dressing at the 2023 Durban July event was former Idols SA judge, Somizi Mhlongo. South Africa celebrities all gathered in Durban for the annual Hollywoodbets Durban July and stars like Jessica Nkosi, Mihlali Ndamase and Sithelo Shozi all showed up in what they hoped were their best looks but not everyone lived up to social media’s expectations.

The radio and TV personality had not one but seven outfit changes and arrived in a triangular glass box carried by buff half-naked male models. This led to many wondering whether he had joined the illuminati — speculation he decided to discuss in a recent clip.

SOMIZI CLEARS OFF ILLUMINATI SPECULATION

Over the years, many celebrities have been accused of joining the illuminati in order to gain success in the entertainment industry. Somizi Mhlongo’s looks at the Durban July this year had him on the list.

Heading online, however, the media personality laughed the speculation off while adding how he too once believed that Beyonce was in the illuminati. He has responded to claims he is part of the “illuminati” by saying people are threatened by other people’s star power.

“Illuminati” is a name given to a cult-like organisation that promises fame, fortune and power in exchange for certain sacrifices.

Somizi took to his Instagram page to address the spreading rumours about him being a part of a secret cult. The larger-than-life media personality poured cold water on the allegations and bashed those spreading the fake news.

He said: “I was looking at the comments, especially on TikTok of videos that have been posted of my arrival and stuff. The caption would say ‘Did you see the sign, did you see that there’s Illuminati? There was a point when I would see videos of Beyoncé and others and there’s a part of me that believed them until they started saying I am also a part of the Illuminati.”

Many of his friends and fans defended his extraordinary outfits and claimed that all that Somizi did was to exhibit creativeness and did not  owe anyone an explanation.
