UK faces backlash over immigration fee increases

The cost of visiting the UK is increasing. Work and tourist visas will rise by 15 percent while other visas will increase by at least 20 percent.  The Immigration Health Surcharge, which allows you to access the NHS, will also go up.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says the hikes are necessary to fund a civil servant pay hike of up to 7 percent.

He’s been under pressure to raise the salaries of police, nurses and junior doctors, but has been reluctant to burden UK taxpayers with the increased public sector wage bill.
