Actor Sam Underwood arrested after alleged domestic battery incident

Actor Sam Underwood has been arrested on domestic battery charges after reports of a disturbance in Los Angeles, PEOPLE confirms. The actor, 36, best known for his role in Fear the Walking Dead, was taken into Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) custody after he allegedly got into a physical altercation with a woman, a spokesperson for the LAPD tells PEOPLE.

Law enforcement responded to a 911 call about a disturbance in an apartment in the Los Angeles area on Saturday, Oct. 7 around 2:30 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, police were informed of a domestic quarrel that allegedly grew physical.

The unidentified woman, whose connection to Underwood is unknown, had visible marks on her body, but did not require medical attention, police said. The actor was arrested on felony domestic battery charges; he was later booked and released after approximately 10 hours in custody.

A rep for Underwood did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has yet to determine whether or not Underwood will be given criminal charges.

A source also told TMZ — who was first to report the news — that the Dynasty alum has “provided his attorney with photographs, video recordings, and audio recordings — all of which disprove the claims of the party making these accusations against him.”

Underwood is currently married to Valorie Curry. The couple tied the knot back in July 2016 after meeting on the set of the Fox series The Following in 2013.
