Khanyi Mbau as Basadi host in Music Awards
Media personality Khanyi Mbau was announced as the host of this year’s Basadi In Music Awards. Khanyi was announced as the host of the second annual Basadi in Music Awards, which are a celebration of women within the music and entertainment industry.
The awards also aim to “uplift, celebrate and showcase just what women can achieve when given the platform to shine.” It not only focuses on women in the entertainment sphere but, it also acknowledges and celebrates women who have shown heroism in the liberation of women locally, continentally and globally.
The nominees were announced last month at the Joburg Theatre, where the main ceremony will take place on August 12. The nominations for this prestigious awards event, were announced on 29 June 2023. They included categories such as the Basadi in Music In Africa, Nando’s Emerging Artist of the Year and Reggae Artist of the Year. Some fan favourite nominations included Kelly Khumalo for Afro Pop Artist of the Year, and Uncle Waffles for Artist of the Year.
