Texas, Rudy Farias man who went missing as a teen is found alive 8 years later
Rudolph “Rudy” Farias IV was reported missing since March 6, 2015, according to a missing persons flyer. Farias, then 17, was walking his two dogs in northwest Houston when he vanished and that was the last time his mother saw him. “After 8 long years, Rudy has been located safe,” said a Sunday tweet from the Texas Center for the Missing.
According to Officials, the 17-year-old left his home around 6:00pm with his two dogs. Several hours later, one of the dogs returned home. The next morning, the second came home. Both were missing their leashes.
According to family members, Rudy has been suffering from depression for months. Several years ago, he lost his older brother to a motorcycle accident. Paradise says both Rudy and his mother were two of the first people on the scene the day of the accident.
“He watched his best friend die right in front of him. His brother was his best friend in the world. He’s just gone through so much more than anyone his age ever should,” Paradise said.
Now 25 years old, missing Houston man, Rudy Farias was reportedly found alive Saturday with cuts and bruises all over his body. The young man is now in the hospital after good Samaritans called 911 when they spotted him outside a church unresponsive, located at 76th St. at Ave. L. at around 10 a.m. on June 29 his mother said, according to reports. Authorities confirmed it was Rudy.
His mother alluded that her son was in “bad shape” mentally and physically, but she was grateful to have him back.
Texas EquuSearch director Tim Miller called the latest development a miracle. “How did this happen? We believe in miracles and this certainly was a miracle,” Miller said. “I can’t even tell you how many times we searched and how many leads and tips came in and they just kind of faded away and now all of a sudden, this.” Miller said he never would have imagined that Farias was still alive.
“He has such a huge heart. He loves with all his heart,” his mother said. “That’s why we know he wouldn’t just get up and go on his own.”
Regardless of what may have happened, Paradise says all Rudy’s mother wants is answers and closure, with regards to why he was taken. Rudy’s family released the following statement on Monday:
‘We want to thank the media and public for all their support. My son Rudy Farias IV was found on Thursday, June 29th, after being missing for 8 years. Currently, we do not have any additional information on Rudy’s case. What we do know is at the time of his recovery, a good Samaritan located him unresponsive and immediately called police and 911. My son Rudy is receiving the care he needs to overcome his trauma, but at this time, he is nonverbal and not able to communicate with us. We are asking for privacy during this difficult time but will share more details as Rudy continues to heal.’
