Angelina Jolie plans to leave the US for good after split from Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie said she is “healing” after her bitter split from estranged husband Brad Pitt as she revealed her plans to leave the US for good. The 48-year-old spoke openly about her private life and admitted she was at a crossroads in her life following a turbulent few years.

Back in 2016, it was announced that she and Brad had split following reports of an alleged altercation onboard a private jet. Since then, the former couple – who share Maddox, 22, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, Pax, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15 – have been battling it out in court over custody arrangements, as well as a financial agreement.

Angelina briefly spoke about her split from Brad during the in-depth interview with WSJ Magazine, and the Oscar winner, who is the publication’s stunning cover star for December, said the court battle has led to her “losing the ability to live and travel freely”, and she hinted at a permanent move abroad.

“It’s part of what happened after my divorce – I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can. I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity,” Angelina admitted.

She also touched on the “healing” she and her family needed to do after the high-profile split from Brad, and said she had taken a step back from her acting career in order to focus on her wellbeing. “We had to heal. There are things we needed to heal from,” she shared.

The actress, who revealed her debut fashion collection Atelier Jolie in the magazine, said she was facing a huge decision to make about her career, as she revealed she “wouldn’t be an actress” if she had to choose her own path.

“I wouldn’t be an actress today. When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much,” she complained, noting that she would be happier away from being under the spotlight in Hollywood.

It’s not the first time the Oscar winner has spoken about the lengthy healing process she underwent after separating from Brad, and she previously credited her children for “saving” her.

“My entire life changed. Having children saved me – and taught me to be in this world differently. I think, recently, I would’ve gone under in a much darker way had I not wanted to live for them,” she said in September.
