Police in the UK have reportedly forfeited over US$ 300,000 from a Zimbabwean businessman who owns a company that recruits medical staff.
Businessman Phillimon Makekera owns and is the Managing Director of The Partnership Healthcare Group Ltd. This medical recruiting agency connects personnel with medical facilities and care homes in the country.
Earlier this year, he got in trouble after allegedly duping a group of Nigerians of thousands of British Pounds in the UK. Several Zimbabweans in the UK have also exposed him for conning them as they sought certificates of sponsorship (COS).
UK Police Forfeit Over US$300k From A Zimbabwean Businessman Who Recruits Medical Staff
Police in the UK have since garnished Makekera’s personal and company bank accounts and forfeited US$302,311.68.
Northamptonshire Police shared an update on Facebook:
“The Financial Investigation Unit has secured an Account Forfeiture order utilising civil Proceeds of Crime Act powers. On June 13, 2024, at Northampton Magistrates’ Court, and following a contested hearing, a forfeiture order was made totalling £226,832.15 against a bank account held in the name of The Partnership Healthcare Group Ltd and the sole Director of the company, Mr Phillimon Makekera.”
Northamptonshire Police added that the money in Makekera’s personal and business bank accounts were proceeds of criminal activities:
“The funds within the account were found to have come from crime or would be used in crime. As part of the Home Office’s “Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme,” Northamptonshire Police receive 50% of the forfeited funds back.”
Who Is Phillimon Makekera?
Makekera has lived in the UK for over a decade and holds a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Gloucestershire.
In 2012, his old company, Kingdom Personnel Limited, a nursing and domiciliary care agency, was nominated for an award at the 2012 Great British Care Awards, which celebrate excellence in the care sector.
The Notorious businessman is heavily invested in Zimbabwean football. He owns Hartley Academy, Kwekwe United and is the former CEO and sponsor of Chegutu Pirates.
