Billie Eilish reveals she is ‘physically attracted to women

After dodging questions surrounding her sexuality for years, Billie Eilish has officially revealed that she is “physically attracted” to women.

This week the Grammy award-winning singer opened up about both her sexuality and gender identity, revealing her interest in women. When previously asked about her sexuality, following speculation that she was bisexual, Billie shot down the questions firing back that it was “nobody’s business” what her sexuality was and that the media didn’t have the “same energy” when it came to men in the music industry.

But now, Billie has give a deeper look into her romantic life. She told Variety: “I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well,” and continued: “I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.”

Billie admitted that growing up she wasn’t always a “girl’s girl” and often felt that other women disliked her. But now, she says that she has a deep love and admiration for the women in her life. She told the news outlet: “I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life,” and added: “I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”

In addition to the admission about her sexuality, Billie also dove into a discussion about her gender identity and being sexualised throughout her career. At the start of her career Billie rose to stardom often covering up her body only wearing baggy sweatshirts and hoodies onstage.

But as she has grown and evolved with her fashion sense, she has become more comfortable with showcasing her figure ,admitting that she is not fearful of being sexualised in her new wardobe. She said: “Maybe my not really caring about being sexualised is because I’ve never felt desired or desirable.”

During the interview, she admitted: “I’ve never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m, like, a pretty girl,” she continued: “I identify as ‘she/her’ and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl.”

This look into Billie’s sexuality comes as the singer was previously accused of “queerbaiting” from her fans. In 2021 when she released the music video to her chart-topping song Lost Cause she was accused of deceptively appealing to her queer audiences. When promoting the newly released video, Billie posted a collection of playful snaps of herself and a group of beautiful women behind-the-scenes with the caption “I love girls”. After the post, many fans were questioning the singer’s sexuality and pressing for answers, which Billie has largely dismissed until now.
