Ezekiel Guti, Zaoga’s founder dies at 100

Ezekiel Guti, the prominent evangelist, educationist, author and founder of the ZIMBABWE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD AFRICA (ZAOGA)  has died aged 100. His death on Wednesday, 5 July was announced by the Apostle who succeed him, Apostle Joe Guti, on the church’s TV channel.

‘He has transitioned to be with his Lord and master whom he faithfully and sacrificially served for over eight decades’, were the words of the Apostle who announced Guti’s death. “It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the promotion to great glory of our dearly beloved spiritual father, visionary and iconic leader Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti. He peacefully departed from this world today, Wednesday, July 5, 2023,” he said.

ZAOGA church, also known as the Forward in Faith Ministries International, remains one of the biggest in Zimbabwe with branches around the world, which he, Ezekiel Guti founded.

He was a holder of various degrees, including a PhD in Religion. Guti has preached and taught in numerous countries, established Bible schools and orphanages, and founded multiple ministries and fellowships. He oversaw over 5,000 pastors and evangelists worldwide and was known for performing miracles.

Ezekiel Guti was also involved in philanthropic work, including the funding of children’s homes, orphanages, and health service centres. He wrote several books on Christian life and ministry, including A Wise Man, Prayer of a Righteous Man, and The Book of Remembrance. He also established a university located in Bindura called ZIMBABWE EZEKIEL GUTI UNIVERSITY.

The Man of God is survived by his wife, Eunor Guti, who is also a religious leader in their church. The couple had a child together, Ezekiel Junior Guti, who was also an evangelist in their ministry but passed away in 2018.
